Booking an airport transfer with Islelander shuttle service was the best decision I made for my senior group. We were truly impressed with the way Islelander and their team of service guides assisted with our arrival and departure pick up. Their drivers and their service assistant provided full, satisfactory support and waited an extra 3 hours since our plane was delayed. With all our inconveniences they still managed to drive one hour and thirty minutes to our resort and did that very safely, while we relaxed comfortably in the air-conditioned shuttles.

On our return journey, the drivers arrived exactly on time at our hotel, however that was understandable as there seem to be major traffic congestion on the city highway. St. Lucia was incredible, very service oriented, and the people are extremely friendly. We are planning to return with more persons in the near future, and once again we will be using Islander airport shuttle service for our ground transfer. An Exotic Escape to the Secluded Island of St. Lucia

After such a long time of waiting, pondering my imagination to take me to a hidden vacation spot, where I can let go and feast on liberty, escaping from the everyday hassles of life. Working for a top Fortune 500 company means everyday there is a huge problem to solve, another grumpy client to satisfy, your colleagues’ indecision and confusion to rely upon, and so many other unfortunate events that smacks you right in the face.

When the opportunity finally came by, I quickly made plans for an escape that would put me in a whole new world, an environment that would exceed that of my imagination. And no, I was not thinking of Hawaii, Galapagos Islands, or any of the South American regions. The Caribbean islands were now my only answer for a perfect hideaway, a place where I can be in a totally different time, with the warm breeze perfectly wrapped around my body, and only the sounds of nature in the distance.

I meticulously researched all the islands of this amazing territory; however it all boiled down to this one dot of an island located in the Lesser Antilles, approximately 21 miles south of Martinique and 90 miles northwest of Barbados. St. Lucia is a diamond in the rough; its turquoise blue waters are shallow, with black and white sand beaches glittering in the fiery sunsets. This was definitely my dream vacation world.

To make this island more incredible was a local touring company which I also stumbled upon online called Islander St. Lucia. Without any doubts or indecision I decided to make Islander my host vacation planner. They did all the work, booked me into a luxurious five star resort, where I spent 7 nights in the northern part of the island, and another 7 nights in the historical south-western part of the island at a heavenly 4 diamond resort Jade Mountain.

In between my days I did some island touring with Islander as well, luckily at both resorts I made a good amount of friends whom I shared my island exploring drive with, which made my bills fairly reasonable. I went sea exploring, rainforest zip-lining, crossing rivers to get to secluded waterfalls, climbing St. Lucia’s tallest mountain, trekking through fog, and deep green bushes. The Amazonian adventure just kept on and on, but nothing felt better than coming back to my heavenly haven at Jade Mountain, where I had a bold view of the St. Lucia landmark twin cones, the Pitons.

Islander also took care of my airport transfers to and from the international airport, I drove in an air-conditioned mini bus, real Caribbean living, I loved it. For this is what I left, the largest city America for, away from the big buses, polluted air, over-population, and demanding Fortune 500 executives, topped with a six hour flight directly connecting to St. Lucia. This was finally my dream land, my dream vacation; arriving there I was completely surrounded by an exotic aura and Creole culture. This was it.

Petit Piton - An Islander Perspective

The Majestic Petit Piton

It is always a pleasure waking up in the morning to the chirping sounds of birds and the nice cool Caribbean breeze which can be felt by everyone on island (the local houses, mansions, resorts etch). Today like most of my days in St Lucia is going to be another one of Fantastic Island touring and sightseeing. With so much to do and so many places to visit on the island I always wonder what made me so fortunate to be part of such a heavenly experience. The joy of being able to share one’s experience with travelers and the thought of what they might be feeling or thinking when they are in the presence of natures supreme beauty always keeps me captivated and wanting to show them even more. Island tours are loaded with interesting feats and the tour guides who are now certainly friends seem even more excited than the travelers, maybe it’s because we know what it feels to look at St Lucia’s natural attractions for the first time; like the warm felt look of a baby staring into the eyes of a mother who’ve longed his/her arrival, Is not something words can explain.

On a day when there aren’t any island tours I would sit in my balcony with my laptop sipping on some latte motivated to write by looking at what’s in front of me (The Majestic Petit Piton). Gazing thoughtfully at how a volcano (Sulphur Springs) could have created such a grand wonder which shoots an astounding 2,000 feet from the blue Caribbean Sea; and that’s not even the fun part yet. Petit Piton the most marketed and photographed attraction on the island is now labeled a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, even more amazing is the astounding popularity it has received from hikers and rock climbers eagerly interested in reaching the summit.

Climbing to the summit of Petit Piton is one of the most challenging feats one could ever dare undertake. I remember the first time I climbed Petit Piton with a fabulous group who’ve kept in touch ever since. We were hacking the trail while at the same time marveling at the views and unique features of Petit Piton such as massive trees which are said to have been there for over a century and the unique species of birds seem to be flourishing at such altitudes. You could say from then on my passion for avid rock climbing began and thanks to our travel friends we have been able to allow a score of rock climbers to experience the natural feel of climbing such heights. No ropes, that’s right climbing over 2,000 feet without taking any ropes along. The trail is made possible by the available man made hand holes, tree roots and vines provided by nature; but in all the climb is very safe for relatively fit individuals with a knack for thrill seeking adventure climbing.

St Lucia Tours

just 14 miles long and 27 miles wide St Lucia is one of the smallest islands in the Caribbean Chain and attracts just over half a million tourist a year thanks to its hot tropical climate, fantastic island tours and average temperatures of around 26 degrees Celsius. Soufriere is the old French capital and St. Lucia’s oldest town making it one of St. Lucia’s most sorted after sightseeing attractions. Soufriere sits in a valley beneath the looming volcanic peaks called the Pitons, St Lucia’s most photographed features. These majestic twin peaks tower 2,000 feet above sea level and is now titled a World Heritage Site.

During the 18th Century Soufriere was a thriving port; today it is much quieter but a charming town for guided tour exploration. Just half a mile away you will find the World’s only Drive-In Volcano at Soufriere Sulphur Springs; it last erupted 40,000 years ago and then collapsed in on itself leaving behind a collection of bubbling sulphur pools. If you have always wanted to know how to crack open a coconut Islander Guides will take you up to Mourne Coubaril Estate just south of Soufriere. This 250 acre estate offers tourists the chance to experience traditional agricultural activities with a guided tour around the plantations. You will also see an old fashion sugarcane press in action and learn how to polish coco beans with your feet. From here you can take a tour of the Toraille Waterfall for a refreshing deep under the cascading water.

St Lucia is packed full of interesting sightseeing history, for 150 years the English and the French fought over the island and today you can visit pigeon island where many of the battles took place. The island was also a pirate hideout in the 1550s. You will find even more historical sightseeing attractions in the capital Castries, including the beautiful Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. Directly opposite is Derek Walcott Square named in honor of St. Lucia’s prize winning poet. Many of St Lucia hotels have their own private beaches; but if you are able to get out and about Raduit Beach is a fantastic alternative. It is a Kilometer long and one of the prettiest on the island, from here you can wonder down to Rodney Bay a stylish marina with a handful of waterside restaurants.

St Lucia more than lives up to the paradisiacal Caribbean Stereotype, its beautiful beaches and lush tropical interior make it the sort of island that most travelers dream about. St Lucia’s biggest draw however is the fact that it is still relatively unknown and as a result you won’t find the hoards of tourist you normally find on other Caribbean islands.
